Have you ever checked your account and wondered, "Where does all my money go?" You're not alone. Overspending is a common habit that often goes unnoticed. From a few online purchases to morning pastries and coffee runs, these small expenses can really add up over time.

At Abound, your financial health is our top priority, which is why we've put together a few tips to help you spend smarter this summer.
  1. Set a budget - Having a clear budget is essential for financial stability. To get a full picture of your income and expenses, try our How Much Am I Spending calculator. It helps track everything, from housing and utilities to smaller expenses like takeout and matinees. Once you see where your money goes, it's easier to identify areas to cut back and prioritize goals like debt repayment, retirement savings and boosting your Savings Account
  2. Shop with a list - Make a list of essential items before you shop. This helps you stay focused and avoid splurging on unnecessary purchases.
  3. Use your debit card - Using your debit card for in-store purchases helps you track your spending in real time, since the money is withdrawn directly from your account. Credit cards can tempt you into larger purchases and potentially rack up debt.
  4. Set up account alerts - Through Digital Banking*, you can set alerts to notify you when your account balace falls below a certain threshold. Choose an amount that helps you maintain your desired balance and avoid nonessential spending.
Never set up an alert before? It's easy!
  1. Log in to Digital Banking
  2. Select your Checking Account from the Dashboard
  3. Click Alert Preferences
