- Elizabethtown Nature Park - This local nature preserve includes walking trails that tie into the Freeman Lake Park trail system, a Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, and the Elizabethtown Veterans Tribute.
- Red River Gorge Geological Area - This national forest attracts thousands of visitors each year and boasts spectacular rock features, including sandstone arches and towering cliffs. Enjoy hiking, camping, canoeing, wildlife viewing and other recreation opportunities year-round.
- Mammoth Cave National Park - This national park is a true treasure in Central Kentucky and encompasses portions of Mammoth Cave, the longest known cave system in the world.
If boating, fishing or kayaking is your thing, there's also tons of local lakes to get out and enjoy. Introducing kids and grandkids to these outdoor activites is a wonderful way to make lasting memories and spend quality time together without the distraction of phones and other technology!
Just don't forget to pack plenty of water, snacks and lunch if you plan to make a day out of it. A little planning ahead can save you time and money while making healthy eating a habit for you and your loved ones.
Here's to making the most of our time together with friends and family!
